In short: DVD Tamer is free to use, on any number of computers, for personal or business purposes. You can pass on unmodified copies for free. It isn't open source, and it comes with no warranty. The full license is below; it also comes with the app (Help > About).

DVD Tamer is free to use. It is not open source: its source code is not published, and the author keeps all rights not given below. By installing or using DVD Tamer, you agree to this license.

  1. Use. You may install and use DVD Tamer on any number of computers, for personal or business purposes, at no charge.
  2. Sharing. You may give others exact, unmodified copies of the DVD Tamer installer or AppImage, together with this license, as long as you charge nothing for them. You may not sell DVD Tamer, charge for access to it, or include it with another product or service, without the author's written permission.
  3. Restrictions. You may not modify, decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer DVD Tamer, except where the law, or the license of a third-party component included with it, allows you to.
  4. Your content. Use DVD Tamer only with video you have the right to copy and convert. You are responsible for how you use DVD Tamer and the files it makes.
  5. Online services. DVD Tamer looks up titles on TheTVDB, TMDb and TVmaze, and, if you set it up, reads menu text with your own Azure AI Vision resource. Those services have their own terms, are provided by others, and may change or stop at any time.
  6. Third-party components. DVD Tamer includes, or works with, software from other authors (listed in Help > About), each under its own license. This license doesn't limit any rights those licenses give you.
  7. No warranty. DVD Tamer is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
  8. Limitation of liability. To the extent the law allows, the author is not liable for any damages or loss arising from the use of, or inability to use, DVD Tamer, including lost data or files, even if told such damage was possible.
  9. Termination. This license ends automatically if you break it. You must then stop using DVD Tamer and delete your copies.
  10. Changes. Later versions of DVD Tamer may come with a different license. This license applies to the versions it came with.
